After getting great looks and some photos of the N Wheatear at Upper Sundusky reservoir & seeing 5 immature Bald Eagles and a N Harrier, I headed to Killdeer Plains hoping for Rough-legged Hawks. I saw at least two birds, possibly a pair?—they were in close proximity to each other. Beautiful light morph birds.

There were many Tundra Swans maybe close to 100 with some pale gray immature birds in with mostly adults. It was wonderful to just stand and listen to their wonderful honking. Hundreds of ducks were around but fairly distant. Most appeared to be mallards although I saw a few Black Ducks. Many Canada Geese of course.

I saw at least four more N Harriers, mostly females or orange birds although I saw one male as I headed back south. There were also several Kestrels including one perched at Killdeer—nice male. Red-taileds were all along the route. A pair seemed to make a perched Rough-legged a bit nervous—it kept looking up at the them as they thermalled above.

On the way to the reservoir, an adult Bald Eagle flew across Rt 23 just S of Bucyrus.

Beautiful sunny day but still a bit raw with the wind, but good birds.
