A day of not much going right really crimped my birding. A late delivery. The wind
Knocking something down. We lost power. My car had an issue - the birding
Mobile is currently running fine now. There’s birds to chase! I hit Lost Bridge first
I’m the late afternoon. Geese and Mallards! Stuff was settling in for the night.
Or so I thought - most of the geese took off to the north. Final feeding? The Gadwall
Flock is still on the north pond. Only ring billed gulls……….. I need to hit Rumpke
Soon.

Where to next? Oxbow Indiana? Shawnee Lookout? - probably not much there in
The winter - but I love to explore. Fernald won out. A dusk watch at lodge pond.
Alas, not much flying.

I was planning on Clinton and Warren counties - that Kittiwake is still there.
Would be a county bird! Maybe Monday I can get up there. There’s other
Things I wanted to do at Caesar creek. Like owl searching.

My experiences with Shrikes in NJ is that they can be hard to spot. They are
Laying low or something when not actively hunting. I have missed plenty of
Times! And seen many times. Both Northern and Loggerhead. They are out
In the open only when hunting. I think.

Good birding all.
