I went for a walk late afternoon at Denison instead of early morning as I’m still resting up from my trek to see the Sandhill Crane spectacle near Kearney NE—never made the trip & I highly recommend it—it really is amazing. The aerial count when I arrived was about 344,000 and the next week before I left, it was 464,000! The sounds & sights at morning lift-off & evening fly-in are truly awesome. Also visited 2 Greater Prairie Chicken leks which was great fun.

As for Denison, it was quiet given the time of day but I finally saw my FOS Tree Swallow at swallow field. There were a couple White-throated Sparrows as well as Song & Field plus towhees. A few Com Grackles. Some bluebirds. Pair of Wood Ducks.

I saw my FOS Chipping Sparrow at my feeders this morning & the E Phoebe that nests across the street was singing. A male bluebird was checking out my neighbor’s bluebird house.
