I saw a willet at the Auburn Road section of LaDue Reservoir
this afternoon at 3:00. I noticed a large, long legged shorebird, standing next to
a Great Egret….standing still. Dawned on me that no self
respecting Greater Yellowlegs would stand still so long so I hauled
out my scope for a closer look. It was indeed a willet, confirmed
when it finally moved, by the umistakable black and white wing pattern.
It was still there when I left two hours later. (Also seen by Kelly
Kozlowski.)
