I am down in Lawrence County- southeastern Ohio. Over the past week or so
I have seen 2 Merganzers- at first I saw only the female- I wasn't sure
which type of Merganzer until I saw the male- hooded- so I assumed female
hooded- however, upon examining my guide, the female COMMON Merganzer has a
complete brown head with white patch on neck which is the one I am seeing.
So would a male Hooded hang out with a female Common? I haven't seen them
literally together- just both in the lake during same time period.
Also one Ruddy Duck
