Yesterday I was driving north on route 207 just north of Route 22 intersection in Pickaway County around 6pm. I looked over into a field and saw a juvenile bald eagle on the ground dining on some kind of carrion. I stopped at the side of the road and was able to watch through binoculars, with the bird about 100 yards off the road. It wasn’t long before the bird got tired of me watching, because it kept looking over at me as it was eating, and it flew away. I got really good looks on the ground and in-flight. From the amount of white on it I would guess that it’s probably a second year bird. This location is not far south of deer Creek Lake.
And as an aside, this morning I had my first white throated sparrows in the yard
