Too nice a day to stay home & do chores so I wandered over to Lobdell NR more to get a nice walk in. Not many birds, quite muddy. Just the expected cardinals, titmice, chickadees, Song Sparrows, WB Nuthatches. Downy & Hairy WP. Heard Red-shouldered Hawk, a couple TVs. Spring peepers.
At oxbow, I picked my FOY Pied-billed Grebe (just 1) and Horned Grebes (at least a dozen). Small numbers of Bonaparte’s Gulls along w/ Herring & Ring-billed. Only ducks were mallards & one Ruddy Duck. Distant coots.
At Galena, I waded thru some water but stopped when the water was threatening to go over my mid calf boots…only added Red-bellied WP, flicker & goldfinch.
