First thought to be a Herring Gull. Thanks to Jack Stenger for providing correct ID.
A Juvenile American Golden Plover has brought others to the beach since the sighting on Sunday, but there have been no further reports on this unusual gull. Images of this gull at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/nsxbirder along with images and video of the American Golden Plover, 1st Winter Herring Gulls, a Laughing Gull, Common and Caspian Terns, Osprey, and Bald Eagles.
