Finally starting to see some Snow Buntings in the LaRue area. I was
traveling along Wennemac Pike just outside of Marion County, when I flushed
a small flock of Horned Larks. In that grouping were three to five white
and brownish birds with flashes of white on the upper wing. My binoculars
are in my other car, so I couldn't stay and confirm 100%, but they looked
and acted like typical Snow Buntings. When they are down this far, that
spot is a reliable place to see them.

Also had what looked like a Great Horned Owl on something that appeared to
be an old Red-tailed Hawk nest. It was in a private location, and I am even
less sure that was what it was than I am with the Snow Buntings. So I am
going to withhold judgement till I can get my optics back.

Happy birding and God bless!

Steve J.
