Once again, the Perry County Wilds (Rehoboth reclaimed strip mine area) came through with great birds. First of all, we counted ELEVEN Northern Harriers preparing to go to roost at the same spot they were observed on two previous occasions. This has lead me to conclude that they do use the same roost site every night. Also for the third time, we observed the short eared owls flying over or near that site. We could also hear them “barking”. Quite entertaining. This gave us 35 species on the first day of the new year, all in Perry County.
