After being cooped up all day yesterday for work instead of out birding I decided to try to get out in between the heaviest rain showers and check out the shorebirds at Funk bottoms. It was not as productive as I had hoped but I did find a few things and just barely managed not to get my car stuck looking for the Hudsonian Godwits but that’s another story. Two more OH birds: Ruddy Turnstone & White-rumped SP.

I looked for the Stilt SPs along Blachleyville Rd but only found one distant Solitary SP but I had managed to miss this bird so far so I was happy to see it. I did not see the N Shoveler.

I also had a White-rumped SP. While it was preening, I could see the white rump. It was near some Least and Semi-palmated SPs.

I might have seen the W SP reported there as I saw a peep with strong rufous on its face but it flew off before I could study it more closely so I just left a question mark by it. Pity, since I need it for my Ohio list.

The rain became heavier so I gave up scanning with the scope sooner than I’d hoped but c’est la vie…beats sitting around the house.

Had one flyby Ruddy Turnstone and 3 Whimbrels while I was driving on Wilderness Rd but they kept on going so not the most satisfying looks.

Blue-winged Teal
Bald Eagle, ad sitting in a field
Kestrel
Sandhill Cranes (heard in distance)

Solitary SP
White-rumped SP
Least SP
Semi-palmated SP
Spotted SP
Whimbrel
Ruddy Turnstone
Semi-palmated Plover
Killdeer
