Hi all,

I arrived at the sandspit at Conneaut today around 9:30. I found the
Franklin's Gull within about a minute, and only later learned that it had
been present for only a few minutes before I got there. Talk about good
timing! It was present for about another 20 minutes, and then after being
harassed by a Ring-billed Gull, it picked up and flew across the harbor and
was not seen again up to the time I left at noon. Shortly after the
Franklin's departed, the Black-headed Gull was refound and remained visible
for most of a hour. I guess I don't get to complain about being unlucky the
next few times I miss a good bird...

I was able to get pictures of both rare gulls which can be seen at
http://home.earthlink.net/~pomarine/index.html.

Other birds present while I was there were: American Golden-Plover (1 juv),
Black-bellied Plover (1), Semipalmated Plover (3), American Avocet (2),
White-rumped Sandpiper (1), Sanderling (6), Caspian Tern (2). Bob Lane and
others can probably fill in the gaps, as I'm sure I did not see everything
that was there since I was preoccupied with the rare gulls.

What a weekend on Lake Erie!
