Hi,

After color banding 18 individuals during the 2018 breeding season, adding
to the 10 from 2017, we began non breeding season monitoring on November 1.

This year we have gone with 7 squirrel proof bird feeders with trail cams,
all set up very near sites where we banded individuals. We will also look
for these birds in person, but given just 2 of us working on this part
time, we need automation as well.

Thus far the system is proving successful. We have good documentary photos
of 3 banded individuals, in 2 different locations. 2 of these birds were
banded in 2017 and the third is from 2018. Last winter we got photos of
individuals in all 4 of our study locations.

All of the study locations are in or near Kirtland, and 3 are in Holden
Arboretum natural areas, which are permit only. My yard on Gildersleeve
Mountain is the 4th location.

Haans
