Can't do much birding driving down I-80 going 70 mph, especially when driving a group, BUT as I 
scanned the water of Meander Reservoir to the north while crossing the bridge about 4:30 this 
afternoon, I saw an extra large bird on the water amongst the cormorants and gulls. An unmistakable 
profile of a brown pelican startled me in my drive-by birding. I only saw the one, perhaps there were 
more...
