I have checked our area which includes an old tree farm of evergreens with acres and acres of various pines, spruce and fir. Lots of cones but no sign of crossbills. Just goldfinch, house finch, golden crowned kinglets and juncos.

We will keep looking as the season goes on.

Subject: [Ohio-birds] red crossbills

It would be good, if listers, when done being the usual "sheep" and chasing
stake-out crossbills, would visit their local old cemeteries and local
white pine groves for red crossbills. The extent of the invasion should be
documented.
