Venturing out in sunshine for change this morning, I headed to oxbow in hopes of a repeat sighting of and possibly photographing the Little Gull. My first try at scanning the large number of Bonaparte’s was unsuccessful so I checked Galena but no gulls there or anything else so I went back to Oxbow. A couple had seen the gull after I left and not long after I returned, they found it again and I was able to as well.

It stayed across the lake and never ventured closer so no photos but lovely scope views. It flew well south/left from the boat ramp, disappearing for awhile. After the couple left, I spotted it again not far from where we had seen it before—south of the round boat mooring buoys.

Also saw Ruddies, Mallards, Buffleheads, Hooded and Red-breasted Mergansers as well as distant grebes which I presumed were Horned.

The Brant at Groveport as mentioned was grazing on the grass near the retention pond between the Shesheido and TJX warehouses/distribution centers. The number on the TJX warehouse was 5285. This pond/area is across Toy Rd from the pond by Gateway Ct, the road to the Amazon distribution center. This was my third try so it was great to find the Brant and have it be off an entry road away from traffic and so close I only had to roll down my window to take photographs. If only all my Ohio birds were that cooperative…
