In this time of Facebook, Twitter, blogs, etc., what do we need a listserv for.  The only useful role is for members to post a sighting of some significance so that other members can enjoy it too.

If you don’t believe in sharing locations, this isn’t the place for you.
If you’re writing to impress, rather than express, this isn’t the place for you.
If you want to scold other members for not being as concerned and dedicated as you are, this isn’t the place for you.

How about:  Species, Date, Location (I mean real location, not “Right where Bob said it would be.”), and any other pertinent information helpful to others.

We don’t need rules and policies; just common sense.  And, in response to an earlier posting, we are becoming a laughingstock.  I’m at the Laredo Birding Festival and have been sharing some of the posts.  No one was impressed.
