While wrangling the chickens tonight at 7:35, I thought I heard a woodcock from the prairie on top of the hill.  Listened for 3-4 minutes, and sure enough I heard it again.  This is a bit early, but last year first heard them on February 25.  
     I’ve been in the right place at the right time a lot this month,  which is mighty important when it comes to birding.
