Director of Institutional Research

The University of Cincinnati is seeking a Director of Institutional
Research, working under the supervision of the Vice Provost Institutional
Effectiveness.   Established in 1819, the University of Cincinnati is a
comprehensive state institution with 34,000 students, 450 undergraduate and
graduate degree programs, 17 colleges and a $700 million budget.  It is a
Research 1 institution with sponsored programs exceeding $120 million.  The
200-acre main campus is located just north of downtown Cincinnati.  A large
medical campus is immediately adjacent to the main campus and three other
campuses are located north and east of the city.
The Director position provides effective management and visionary leadership
in the Office of Institutional Research.  To this end, the primary
responsibilities of the Director are to develop and maintain information
systems in partnership with university technology specialist that provide
accurate and reliable information to fulfill external mandates and internal
needs; administer and analyze comprehensive surveys; collect and communicate
key performance indicators; provide critical support for strategic planning
by preparing reports based on survey and other performance data; maintain an
institutional web-based portfolio; provide and encourage access to
information and analysis that promotes effective institutional decision
making; and perform and supervise special research studies.
Candidates must possess the ability to communicate complex information and
work collaboratively with all levels of university administrators, as well
as a culturally diverse population of faculty, staff and students;
experience in working with large data bases and complex information systems;
excellent analytical skills; demonstrate ability to manage staff in a
complex, multi-task environment; expert knowledge of basic desktop word
processing, spreadsheet, data base and presentation software; understanding
information; knowledge of trends and issues in assessment and planning in
higher education; and ability to work independently, in teams and with
attention to detail and adherence to deadlines is essential.  A minimum of
three years institutional research experience is required.  An advanced
degree is required in an appropriate field with training in statistics,
research methodology and data manipulation; doctorate preferred.
