Thanks for your questions. And questions are good. The weekly blogs should reflect the weekly themes, the timing of their publication on the NING site is somewhat arbitrary. You could actually require them to posted by Friday or Saturday or even Sunday. The key point is that they should occur after you have discussed them, and students have had time to digest and reflect upon them. The same thing goes for those they write responses to. Typically, my students will turn in theirs to me at our home site at Miami, after I have reviewed them for content and appropriateness, I select a featured blog for the week then have them post them on the NING site. This might take as many as 3 days after the due date. And thus theirs will not show up on the NING site until mid week or so. As this is a process, the blog due dates are intended to be suggestions where we are really aiming at getting students in the habit of regularly writing and posting blogs. As the semester gets underway, they will adjust (as will all of us) to the pace and it will become more normalized. If this is unclear or if you have any further questions, please ask.

And yes, I know this can be somewhat daunting for the first time. We have been working on this for 3 years, and are sensitive to the many questions that might arise..
Let us know if we can help an in way

Subject: more questions

Thank you for your help. I am hoping that our University library will be able to find stable links to all the articles and put them on the e-reserve on the library web page. Meanwhile, I am doing the best I can from my end.

I have more questions and I thank you in advance for your patience and help. (I was in Greece visiting my parent, hence the delay in figuring out the details for participating in this course.)

How does it work to have students submit blogs based on material from the week before (ie, the Monday night deadline)? I am concerned that if they are writing on last week's material for the Monday night deadline, they will show up to class without having read the current week's material.

And how did it work to do the featured blog on last week's material?

My class meets Monday and Thursday. Ideally I would like us to discuss the material on Monday and for them to have their blog written for the Thursday session. This would keep them on track with the readings. Would that put us out of sync with the rest of the Partners? I recognize that some universities start before us and others after us.

Thank you in advance for sharing your insight and experience.
