Georgia

Thanks.

While timing is always an issue with this sort of project, I would especially urge you to follow the core readings in the sequence that they are offered. One of the aspects of this course is that students will be encouraged to respond to "Weekly Featured Blogs" and these responses should be both informed and keyed to the respective readings and discussions. As most students will not get to the Social Justice readings till late in the semester, they will not be able to adequately respond to your students. Alternatively, since your students will not have covered the material that is currently being discussed by the majority of the students their responses will also be similarly limited.

A note on the Featured Blogs:

. Each institution currently has, or will have, a group page. On this group page each Partner will encourage students to submit their weekly blogs. I suggest that each week each Faculty Partner will then select ONE blog entry from their institution to feature. These feature blogs will then be posted separately -thus each week we will have say a dozen featured blogs that our students can then choose to respond to. This provides incentive for students to produce high quality weekly blogs and provides Partner's with a means by which to recognize such quality. It also will provide all students models by which they can use to improve their own blog entry's. Similarly, by only having a limited set of Featured Weekly Blogs -all student members can more easily identify and craft responses.

More soon...rdc

Greetings all from Xios, Greece!

I am still working on organizing the course for the University of Victoria's Social Justice program. At this point, I can say that we will participate in the weekly blogs but that we only have 10 full weeks this term (ie 2 sessions a week) and so we won't be able to cover all the topics. We will also have some supplementary readings.

Is it a problem if we do some topics in different order, ie I would like to bring the what is social justice to the beginning of the class?

I really like Carol Pavlish and Adey Nyamathi's idea of encouraging students to participate in the case study with students from other institutions but not requiring it. My class won't be participating in the service component because it is slated for another course in our program.

Thanks everyone. I am very excited to be part of this initiative.

We start on Wednesday, October 3 and will be requiring students to post and respond to weekly blogs. We are requiring students to select either a

This will allow us to plan and accommodate the students. Right now we anticipate close to 300 students and 10 University's Participating.
Please note, this information is essential as it will be utilized to us to identify Partner Institutions and students at the various levels of Participation.
