DETAILS:

This is a great way to get started in, or to get better at,
a career in helping researchers use research computing.

It's also a great way to find a community of fellow
research computing facilitators.

Please feel free to forward to anyone who may be interested
and appropriate.

(If you've already submitted an application, or if you've
already told us you can't participate, please feel free to
share or ignore this.)

Already, over 200 people from over 150 institutions in
50 US states and territories and 4 other countries
have registered for this summer's workshop.

Taking into account the previous workshops in 2015 and
2016, we have already served, or are scheduled to serve,
193 institutions in 53 US states and territories and
7 other countries, including:

* 35 Minority Serving Institutions;
* 33 non-PhD-granting institutions;
* 66 institutions in 26 of the 27 EPSCoR jurisdictions;
* in the US News rankings of national universities:
-- 6 of the Top 10,
-- 24 of the Top 50,
-- 53 of the Top 100,
-- 90 of the Top 200.

----------

Does your institution have lots of researchers and
educators who want to use advanced computing, but
need some help learning how?

You or someone at your institution can learn to be
more effective at helping researchers and educators
use Research Cyberinfrastructure (CI)!

REGISTRATION COST: ***FREE***

Clarifying, since this question has come up in the
past:

You *DON'T* have to any affiliation with the
Clemson-led ACI-REF/CaRC effort, in order to
participate in the 2017 Virtual Residency --
though of course anyone in that group is welcome to
apply!

The workshop will begin Sunday evening with a
a welcome/introductory session.

We'll then run all day each day for the full week,
finishing Friday around suppertime.

There'll be ***NO*** registration fee for the workshop.

Workshop participants will also be expected to commit to
participate in the following:

* a Virtual Residency conference call of one hour
roughly every other week during the regular academic
year, for the next two academic years;

* the Virtual Residency mailing list;

* a second summer workshop, in the subsequent year.
