Toaster Day

Start looking around your house for all those broken
appliances and gizmos that you've been meaning to discard and
get them ready for Take Apart a Toaster Day.

This is the day when SWE gives several dozen middle-school
girls the chance to take a screwdriver to non-working vcr's,
hairdryers, radios, clocks, cpu's, turntables, walkmen, motors,
percolaters, and the occassional toaster and see how they work.
We accept donations of almost anything of an
electro-mechanical nature. However, we can't take anything
with a picture tube or compressor containing Freon. But
nearly anything else is fair game.

Ask around among your friends, neighbors, co-workers and other
groups for donations too. We'll make arrangements with you to
collect your items.

Toaster Day will be April 10, at 794 Rhodes Hall on the
University of Cincinnati campus. It will run from about 9AM to
1PM, and includes lunch. We also need some volunteers to help
the students dissect items and identify what some of the
components are.

The contact person for Take Apart a Toaster Day is:
        Alev Hall
        513-247-0336 ext 3431 (work)
        513-677-9582 (home)

Since Alev doesn't have e-mail, you can also reply to this message
and I'll pass the word along to her.
