Dear Professor Coates:

Allow me to introduce myself, I am Napoleon Brown, the son of the
late
singer-songwriter
Oscar Brown, Jr. I do not know if you are familiar with the artist or
any of
his works, but I'd
like to take a moment to pass along some information so that you might

introduce a few of
his accomplishments to your students at Miami (Ohio) during "Black
History"
month. The
artist was considered a profound poet, appearing on HBO's Def Poetry
Jam, a
playwright and a cultural activist. Attached is his biographical
information
for your consideration.
Thank you!

Respectfully,
Napoleon Brown
