release an important dissident before  President Clinton's visit there.

      11-12: Robert Thurman: Robert Thurman is a professor at Columbia
University, a former Buddhist monk, and a Tibetan freedom advocate. His
book "Inner Revolution: Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Real Happiness" is
an introduction to the history and philosophy of Buddhism and its relevance
to our lives today.
 
 
 
Fresh Air with Terry Gross, 12-1 p.m.
 
      "The Lemon Tree" is a special documentary marking the 50th
Anniversary of the State of Israel and the 1948 Arab-Israeli war. It was
produced for Fresh Air by Homelands Productions, producers of other public
radio documentaries. It is narrated by producer Sandy Tolan and uses
excerpts from his conversations with Bashir, a Palestinian man, and Dalia,
an Israeli woman, to tell how their 31 year  friendship reveals much of the
painful history of the last 50 years experienced by both Palestinians and
Israelis. The story begins  with Dalia knocking on the door of the home
that used to be his, near Tel Aviv. The door is answered by Bashir.

      A discussion with author Rosemary Daniell (dan-YELL) about her book,
"The Woman Who Spilled Words All Over Herself: Writing and  Living the Zona
Rosa Way"

      Join Ira Flatow for a look at how far we've come in the twenty-eight
years since the first Earth Day...and at the environmental threats  of
today and tomorrow...And in the second hour...A look at the plight of the
