also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. A.L.S. patients experience a
gradual degeneration of the muscles that leads to fatal paralysis.
Diane and her guests talk about the latest advances in research and
treatment of this devastating disease.
Guests: Susan Brown, ALS patient; Bob Abendroth, attorney
based in Milwaukee and a volunteer research director; Dr. Gerald
Fischbach, director of the National Institute of Neurological
Disorders and Stroke; Dr. Rudiger Kratz, neurologist
11-12: John Wallach: John Wallach talks about Seeds of Peace, an
organization he founded that brings Israeli and Arab teenagers
together each summer in Maine. In his new book "The Enemy Has A
Face" (United States Institute of Peace Press), he talks about his
hope that the connections formed between these youths will grow into
a peaceful future for the Middle East. Two young women who've
participated in Seeds of Peace join him to share their own
experiences.
