The Diane Rehm Show (10am - Noon)
        Hour one: Smallpox: Health science and public health experts
describe the work being done to protect the U.S. against the highly
contagious smallpox virus, officially eradicated in 1979 but believed
to be a possible vehicle for a bioterror attack.
        Hour two: Richard Restak: Neurologist Richard Restak talks
about the latest research on the brain, and offers tips on how to
keep your mind active and healthy. In his latest book, "Mozart's
Brain and the Fighter Pilot" (Crown), he says that simple games and
exercises can improve brain function.

Fresh Air with Terry Gross (noon - 1pm)
        The new film "Ocean's Eleven" is a remake of the 1960 film
starring Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis, Jr. --
otherwise known as the rat pack. An interview with actress ANGIE
DICKSINSON, who was also in the film, and with GERALD EARLY, editor
of the Sammy Davis Jr. Reader.

Public Interest with Kojo Nnamdi (1pm - 2pm)
        Tech Tuesday: Monthly visit with the Computer Guys. PC guy
John Gilroy and Mac guy Tom Piwowar (pee-VO-var) fill us in on the
latest developments in the world of computers and answer all your
questions.

Talk of the Nation with Neal Conan (2pm - 4pm)
        Hour one: CIVIL LIBERTIES POLL BY NPR NEWS/KAISER FAMILY
FOUNDATION, AND HARVARD'S KENNEDY SCHOOL OF GOVERNMENT: Talk of the
Nation is asking for YOUR help. The topic is our newly completed poll
on civil liberties ... and we'd like YOU, our listeners to be our
reporters. Go to the NPR web site for your instructions.
        Hour two: PREVIEW OF THE 2002 WINTER OLYMPICS: The Olmpic
torch arrives in the United States Tuesday morning. It's on its way
to the site of the 2002 Winter games - Salt Lake City, Utah. Neal's
guests offer a preview of the preparations underway, including the
addition of extreme sports and increased security measures.

All Things Considered (4pm - 7pm)
        How Florida is trying to kick start its economy. The
September falloff in tourism hit the state of Florida especially
hard, as people stopped flying to vacation spots like Miami Beach.
Things have improved somewhat, but not enough to feed the state's
50-billion dollar tourism industry.

        Nutrition and the Food Pyramid. Guest: Walter C. Willett,
M.D, Chairman of the Department of Nutrition at the Harvard School of
Public Health and Professor of Medicine at the Harvard Medical School
and author of "Eat, Drink and Be Healthy;" and Tips for Surviving
Holiday Eating, with a local nutritionist.

Thursday on the Todd Mundt Show (no pm repeat due to HawkTawk)
        What's being called the "Ames strain" of anthrax is
responsible for the death of a Florida man, and could have originated
from a collection of anthrax strains at Iowa State University. Dr.
Jim Roth, assistant dean for international programs at Iowa State,
talks with Todd about the history of the "Ames strain". Bert van
Zelst, Director of the Smithsonian Center for Materials Research and
Education, talks about the center's closure. He discusses how they
worked to study the deterioration and preservation of museum objects.
Our film reviewer, Tim Dugdale, returns to the studio to talk about
"Behind Enemy Lines", and upcoming holiday films.

Friday on WMUB Forum with Darrel Gray
        Career advice with career counselor Ford Roosevelt. Mr.
Roosevelt is FDR's grandson. He'll offer tips for the newly
unemployed and for job seekers in this tight economy. Mr. Roosevelt
is the principal consultant for the Job Source series of career
guides, which are published in major metropolitan area around the
country. He's had experience working with college students and
graduates and currently works with Durlester Consulting, an executive
recruiting firm.
