DETAILS:

Interconnect (9am - 10am, repeated 7 - 8 pm)
A Course in Miracles. Rev. Pat Barker & Rev. Jack Barker

The Diane Rehm Show (10am - Noon)
Hour One: Standardized Tests: A discussion on the Bush
administration's call for annual standardized tests for all students
in grades three through eight, as a way to measure school
performance. Guests: Ron Pieffer, U.S. Dept. of Education; Monty
Neil, Fair Test; Lynn Olson, Education Week; H.D. Hoover, Iowa Basic
Skills Testing Program
Hour Two: Donald Bogle: From "Amos & Andy" to "Cosby," from
"Good Times" to "Oprah," African-Americans have had a presence on
television since the medium's earliest days. But the kinds of roles
they've played both before and behind the cameras have changed over
the years. Donald Bogle joins Diane to discuss "Prime Time Blues"
(Farrar Straus & Giroux), his new history of African-Americans and
network TV.

Fresh Air (Noon - 1pm)
MIKE JUDGE, the creator of the animated series "King of the
Hill." Judge is also the voice of Hank Hill, the show's blue-collar
patriarch and propane salesman.

Public Interest (1pm - 2pm)
Pregnancy/Delivery Trends: NEW DRUGS AND TECHNOLOGIES ARE
BEING USED IN CHILDBIRTH EVERY DAY. BUT CRITICS WORRY THAT WE'RE
INTERVENING TOO MUCH. A DISCUSSION OF THE RISE IN C-SECTIONS
("see-sections") AND THE TREND TOWARD SCHEDULING LABOR AND DELIVERY.
Guests: 1. Pat Paluzzi, certified nurse/midwife (former), Bureau
Chief of of Adolescent and Reproductive Health, Baltimore City Health
Department; 2. Dr. Ellen Whitaker, obstetrician/gynecologist; 3. Dr.
Mardsen Wagner, neo-natalogist, a peri-natal epidemiologist, private
consultant

Talk of the Nation (2pm - 4pm)
Hour One: BUSH'S POLICY ON IRAQ: The recent air attack
signaled a tougher U.S. stance on the conflict with Iraq. It also
raised concerns about finding a more permanent solution to the Iraq
problem. International support for sanctions against Iraq has frayed,
and UN weapons inspectors are no longer inside Iraq. Ten years after
Gulf War, can the U S and the new Bush adminstration do more than
periodic air raids on Iraq?
Hour Two: SAT'S AND COLLEGE ADMISSIONS: The president of the
University of California recently proposed that his university stop
using SAT scores to decide which students it admits each year. UC
president Richard Atkinson says the Scholastic Aptitude Test is an
unfair measurement of students' abilities. His proposal is the latest
challenge to the almost universal use of the SAT's in college
admisisons.
