Today's Talk Shows (and an update) on WMUB (http://www.wmub.org/today)

Tuesday, December 25th, 2001

ALERT: WMUB has been experiencing transmitter problems, resulting in
a weakened signal, but we're back up to about 90% now. Many thanks to
Chief Engineer Dave Walrod, who spent several hours at our
transmitter on Christmas Eve, and to our tireless Program Director
John Hingsbergen. Work will continue this week.

No talk shows today. Opcoming holiday specials, below, include a full
schedule for Christmas Day and some terrific specials for the New
Year. The Holiday 2001 edition of our SoundWords program guide is
available as a web page <http://www.wmub.org/soundwords/> or a PDF
file <http://www.wmub.org/soundwords/Holiday01.pdf>

Holiday Specials

Jonathan Winters' A Christmas Carol; Tuesday, December 25, 9-10 am
A public radio tradition. Master comedian Jonathan Winters

special performing edition prepared by Dickens for his own
presentations. Produced by: NPR in association with KCRW.

Christmas Jazz; Tuesday, December 25, 10 am-4 pm
Music for relaxing, dining, cooking and enjoying your Christmas Day.

Christmas Right Between the Ears; Tuesday, December 25, 7-8 pm
The name of the Imagination Workshop may have changed to
Right Between the Ears, but its comic talents are better than ever.
They've brought together some of the best Christmas bits of seasons
past, and added a few for Christmas present,. Produced by: KANU-FM.

Christmas With Mama's Friends; Tuesday, December 25, 8 pm-Midnight
A local tradition on WMUB. Friends of Mama Jazz Rod Nimtz and
John Barnhart take over the microphone and share music from their
personal collections.

New Year's Eve with Mama and Sam; Monday, December 31, 8 pm-Midnight
Mama Jazz and the inimitable Sam Meier join forces to keep
you entertained on the last night of the year. Maybe Sam will pull
out some previously-unheard recordings from the early days of
recorded jazz. A great way to ring out the old and ring in the new
year!

JazzSet's Toast of the Nation; Tuesday, January 1, Midnight-5 am
Ring in '02 from coast to coast, with high hopes and live
music. Visit the Kennedy Center in Washington; the Village Vanguard
in New York; Pete Miller's Steakhouse in Evanston, Illinois; and
finally Yoshi's, to listen to the Afro-Cuban Jazz Masters super group.

Capitol Steps New Year's Show: Politics Takes a Holiday; Tuesday,
January 1, 9-10 am, 7-8 pm
If laughter is the best medicine, this show is Cipro for the
ears. The Capitol Steps continue to rip stories straight from the
headlines, and will keep America entertained in these troubling
times. So strike a blow for freedom, and keep our nation laughing.
