more power to limit public access to White House papers. Diane and
her guests talk about how these changes may affect historians,
journalists, and others.
Hour two: Walter Russell Mead: Author Walter Russell Mead
talks with Diane about his new book, "Special Providence: American

that throughout its history, the U-S has had a more successful
foreign policy than any of the great powers in the modern world.

Winter's here, and it's time to cuddle up with a good book in

Talk of the Nation with Neal Conan (2pm - 4pm)
Hour one: POLITICS OF HAIR: Pictures of clean shaven men
became striking symbols of change last week in Afghanistan. But how
did something so universal and simple become so important? What do
styles say about who we are?
Hour two: CHANGES IN HOLIDAY TRAVEL & SPENDING: Traditionally
the day before Thanksgiving should be one of the busiest travel days
of the year. The day after, shoppers head to the malls. But will
things be different this year? Neal talks with guests about changes
in holiday travel and spending post-September 11th.

All Things Considered (4pm - 7pm)
To try to better understand the extent of the loss the
country suffered on September 11th, All Things Considered visited a
town in Pennsylvania. Parkesburg is home to a number of residents
roughly equal to the number of people that died in the terrorist
attacks. In hearing about the vitality of the Parkesburg community --
the memories, dreams, passions, and relationships of the townspeople
-- we'll get a sense of the life that was lost in the 9-11 tragedies.
