        Nutrition and the Food Pyramid. Guest: Walter C. Willett,
M.D, Chairman of the Department of Nutrition at the Harvard School of
Public Health and Professor of Medicine at the Harvard Medical School
and author of "Eat, Drink and Be Healthy;" and Tips for Surviving
Holiday Eating, with a local nutritionist.

The Diane Rehm Show (10am - Noon)
        Hour one: Cardinal McCarrick: In January, Theodore McCarrick
became Roman Catholic archbishop of Washington, DC, and shortly
thereafter was named by the Pope as a member of the College of
Cardinals. Cardinal McCarrick joins Diane to talk about his career in
the church, his current roles in Washington and in Rome, and about
the challenges of faith in our uncertain times.
        Hour two: Nathalie Babel: The Russian Jewish short story
writer Isaac Babel is often listed among the 20th century's most
influential authors, but until now, much of his work was out of print
and/or poorly translated. The author's daughter Nathalie talks about
the newly-published collection of "The Complete Works of Isaac Babel"
(Norton)

Fresh Air with Terry Gross (noon - 1pm)
        An interview with former president JIMMY CARTER. He has a new
memoir about Christmas in Plains, Georgia.

Public Interest with Kojo Nnamdi (1pm - 2pm)
        A few years ago, she worked at a dry cleaning store. This
year, she was a Grammy nominee for blues music. Shemekia (sha-MEE-ka)
Copeland, now called 'the princess of the blues,' joins Kojo for an
hour of conversation and music. Guest: Shemekia (sha-MEE-ka)

Talk of the Nation with Neal Conan (2pm - 4pm)
        Hour one: MALEEHA LODHI: PAKISTAN'S AMBASSADOR TO THE U-S:
Neal talks with Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States, Maleeha
Lodhi about Pakistan and its role in the war against terrorism.
        Hour two: EMPTY NEST SYNDROME: 'Tis the season ... and that
means kids are finishing finals and heading home from college for the
holidays. But, are YOUR kids ready to come home?

All Things Considered (4pm - 7pm)
        Why police want better communication. Federal officials have
often said local law enforcement is critical to the war against
terrorism. But many police departments say they can't be of much help
with the kind of information they're getting from the FBI.

Tomorrow on the Todd Mundt Show (no pm repeat due to HawkTawk)
        What's being called the "Ames strain" of anthrax is
responsible for the death of a Florida man, and could have originated
from a collection of anthrax strains at Iowa State University. Dr.
Jim Roth, assistant dean for international programs at Iowa State,
talks with Todd about the history of the "Ames strain". Bert van
Zelst, Director of the Smithsonian Center for Materials Research and
Education, talks about the center's closure. He discusses how they
worked to study the deterioration and preservation of museum objects.
Our film reviewer, Tim Dugdale, returns to the studio to talk about
"Behind Enemy Lines", and upcoming holiday films.

Friday on WMUB Forum with Darrel Gray
        Career advice with career counselor Ford Roosevelt. Mr.
Roosevelt is FDR's grandson. He'll offer tips for the newly
unemployed and for job seekers in this tight economy. Mr. Roosevelt
is the principal consultant for the Job Source series of career
guides, which are published in major metropolitan area around the
country. He's had experience working with college students and
graduates and currently works with Durlester Consulting, an executive
recruiting firm.

SPECIAL: Chanukah Lights (4pm -5pm Sunday)
        Our seasonal favorite begins its second decade by conjuring
up imagery of rich traditions, past and present, through
storytelling. Hosted by NPR's Susan Stamberg and Dayton native Murray
Horwitz.
