University Professor Randolph Paul Runyon. The story of the first
woman imprisoned for aiding escaping slaves is a tale of intrigue,
romance, the law, and the historic roots of our country's struggle
over black and white. A Miami Library Book Club of the Air
presentation, live from King Library on the Oxford campus. The public
is invited to the 9 a.m. event.

curfew on the city. The move came amid tumult in the streets four
days after the shooting of an unarmed black man by a white policeman.
Racial tensions are high. Are similar problems hiding under the
surface in other mid-sized American cities? What's happening in
Cincinnati and what it means for race relations in America. (first

Hour One: Weekly News Roundup: A panel of journalists joins Diane to
review and discuss the week's top news stories. Guests: David Brooks,
Weekly Standard; Eleanor Clift, Newsweek; Tom Gjelten, NPR
Hour Two: Doris "Granny D" Haddock: In February 2000, 90-year-old
Doris Haddock arrived in Washington, DC -- the end of her
cross-country journey on foot. She dedicated her journey to raising
awareness of the need for campaign finance reform. She joins Diane to
present her new memoir, "Granny D: Walking Across America in my 90th
Year" (Villard), and to talk about what's happened on the issue of
campaign finance reform over the year since she completed her walk.

Fresh Air with Terry Gross (Noon - 1pm)
On an archive edition, MEL BROOKS. "The Producers" was his first
movie as a director; now the story has been turned into a Broadway
musical. Also on Broadway: GARY SINISE and TERRY KINNEY and their
production of "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest." The two will talk
about co-founding the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago.

DISTINGUISHED BLACK AND WHITE NORTHERN WOMEN TRAVELED TO A TENSE AND
SEGREGATED MISSISSIPPI. THE WOMEN WENT TO LISTEN, TALK, AND LEARN
FROM THEIR SOUTHERN COUNTERPARTS. A DISCUSSION OF THIS LITTLE-KNOWN
CHAPTER IN CIVIL RIGHTS HISTORY, THE "WEDNESDAYS IN MISSISSIPPI"

Hour Two: SAVING ENDANGERED SPECIES WITH BIOTECHNOLOGY: the list of
endangered animals continues to grow worldwide. But help could come
from an unlikely source. How biotechnology could be used to save
endangered species?

All Things Considered (4pm - 7pm)
Two years after the massacre at Columbine High School in Colorado,
new school shootings are still making news. High school students talk
about the issues of school safety, trust and loyalty. They tell why
they don't think a shooting would happen at their schools, and why
they still think about it. And we'll also hear from parents about
their concerns.
