DETAILS

Sound Health (9am - 10am)
        Pets and your health

The Diane Rehm Show (10am - Noon)
Hour One: "Bush v. Gore": Last December, the drawn-out
presidential election dispute was settled by a Supreme Court decision
that may prove to be one of the most controversial ever. E.J. Dionne
of the Brookings Institution and Bill Kristol of the Weekly Standard
have co-edited a book, "Bush v. Gore" (Brookings Institution Press)
that combines court documents and transcripts with some of the most
thoughtful opinion pieces written about the case.
Hour Two: A.S. Byatt: Novelist A.S. Byatt's latest book, "The
Biographer's Tale" (Knopf), returns to the academic themes of her
Booker Prize-winning "Possession." It's the story of a graduate
student faced with the puzzling challenge of writing a biography of a
famous biographer.

Fresh Air (Noon - 1pm)
Terry Gross talks with religion scholar KAREN ARMSTRONG.
She's written a new biography about the man who reached enlightenment
and became known as Buddha. Armstrong's other books include "A
History of God," and "The Battle for God."

Public Interest (1pm - 2pm)
THE SINKING OF THE U-S-S INDIANAPOLIS: IT WAS THE NAVY'S
GREATEST DISASTER AT SEA, WITH NINE-HUNDRED AMERICAN SEAMEN FLOATING
IN SHARK INFESTED WATERS FOR FIVE NIGHTS. ON THIS REBROADCAST,
BESTSELLING AUTHOR PETER MAAS JOINS KOJO TO TELL THEIR STORY, AND THE
INCREDIBLE FIFTY-YEAR CONTROVERSY IT SPAWNED. Guest: Peter Maas,
contributing writer,"Abandon Ship: The Saga of the U.S.S.
Indianapolis, the Navy's Greatest Sea Disaster" (Pub: Harper Collins)

Talk of the Nation (2pm - 4pm)
Hour One: IRAQ REVISITED: It's been 10 years since the gulf
war. As if to mark the occasion, the U.S. led airstrikes on Iraq last
Friday.

Hour Two: MILLIONAIRES AND THE ESTATE TAX: As President Bush works to
repeal estate taxes, some wealthy Americans have come out arguing to
KEEP the estate tax. Mr. Bush's opponents say its repeal would
discourage donations to charitable organizations and unfairly burden
lower- and middle-class Americans. Those who support the repeal of
the tax cut say it encourages saving and keeps cash in the hands of
taxpayers. How changes in the estate tax will affect your financial
decisions.

All Things Considered (4pm - 7pm)
Back to 1969 and the height of free-form rock and roll. We'll
hear previously unreleased recordings of the band Blind Faith. Jam
sessions featuring Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, Rick Grech (GREHCH)
and Ginger Baker.
