        WMUB's Fall Fund Drive concludes today; make your pledge now!
As of midnight Wednesday morning we have raised $64,253 (a record for
the first 6 days of any WMUB campaign). We will end at midnight

Sound Health with Cheri Lawson (9am - 10am, repeated 7pm-8pm)
        Orthodontic Treatment for Children and Adults. Guest: Dr. Nelson Diers

The Diane Rehm Show (10am - Noon)
        Hour one: Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute
of Allergy and Infectious Disease, joins Diane to talk about the
latest developments as more cases of anthrax have been reported in
the last several days.
        Hour two: Linda Emmet & Ray White: Diane talks with Linda
Emmet, daughter of songwriter Irving Berlin, and one of the editors
of "The Complete Lyrics of Irving Berlin" (Knopf), and with Ray
White, curator of the Library of Congress Irving Berlin collection.
Since September 11th, one of Berlin's best-loved songs, "God Bless
America," has been played and sung across the country.

Fresh Air with Terry Gross (noon - 1pm)
        Examining the threat of anthrax, smallpox and other
biological weapons. A talk with DR. JONATHAN TUCKER, the director of
the Chemical and Biological Weapons Nonproliferation Program. He's
also the author of the book "Scourge: The Once and Future Threat of
Smallpox."

Public Interest with Kojo Nnamdi (1pm - 2pm)
        Studs Terkel (TURK-uhl) is an interviewer, columnist, oral
historian, jazz buff and more. Often called "A National Treasure,"
his writing spans six decades and focuses on the lives of "ordinary"
people. GUEST: Studs Terkel, oral historian, author of "Will The
Circle Be Unbroken: Reflections on Death, Rebirth, and Hunger for
Faith" (pub: The New Press)

Talk of the Nation with Neal Conan (2pm - 4pm)
        Hour one: UPDATE ON ANTHRAX CASES: The Centers for Disease
Control have confirmed a ninth case of inhalation anthrax. As more
cases of anthrax are reported, Americans continue to be cautious in
an effort to remain safe. Neal talks with medical experts about what
you should be doing to keep safe.
        Hour two: ARE YOU DOING ANYTHING DIFFERENT THIS HALLOWEEN?
The FBI is warning Americans about an imminent terrorist attack.
Already jittery, some are now questioning their Halloween plans. Neal
talks with Ray Bradbury about Halloween after September 11th.

All Things Considered (4pm - 7pm)
        The women of Afghanistan. Women who have escaped Afghanistan
describe harsh treatment under the ruling Taliban. One says women are
not even treated as well as caged birds. Many say they have longed
for the destruction of the Taliban. But they express concern about a
growing number of civilian casualties in the American air war.

Industry insider James B. Murray Jr. talks with Todd about the

His book is "Wireless Nation: The Frenzied Launch of the Cellular
Revolution in America". Also, comic book artist Eric Shanower about
his new comic book series "Age of Bronze," which depicts the Trojan
