At the risk of belaboring the issue any longer, I should add that the photos 
I sent this afternoon look much darker than the bird did in the field, or 
from the kitchen, really. I think that the dark, greenish flanks are 
entirely an artifact of my (poor) photos and the poor lighting conditions I 
was shooting through. When  I saw the bird, I was struck by how gray the 
underparts were, though they were marked with fine, dark scalloping. So make 
of that what you will, I guess.
