I suppose it depends on who you want to see elected.

The last time something like this happened was in 1876, when an ad
hoc federal commission voted strictly along party lines to award the
disputed electoral votes from Florida and two other states to
Rutherford B. Hayes. Congress wanted to avoid getting involved in
this kind of mess again, so they pretty much turned the process over
to the states.
