COORDINATOR I (FIRE SAFETY INSPECTOR) - P13Dec - 051658 - Risk
Management/Environmental Health and Safety - (Salary commensurate with
experience) Serves as the technical and professional assistant to the RMEH&S
Department in coordinating and maintaining the University's Fire Safety
Program. Specific job duties include, but are not limited to: coordinate
with Fire Safety Coordinator all monthly, quarterly and annual inspections
and testing of all University-owned fire protection systems to ensure
operational status in accordance with federal, state and local fire codes;
coordinate the inspection, testing and maintenance of the automatic and/or
manual fire alarm and detection systems; responsible for disabling and
enabling the fire alarm and detection systems to accommodate any
maintenance-related activities; develop and implement a comprehensive fire
protection and prevention program for all University operations including
assisting all operating units in developing and implementing department
emergency management plans in accordance with the University's central
emergency management plan. Associates Degree, or higher, in fire safety or
related field is preferred. Candidates without a degree shall be a high
school graduate with a minimum of 3-4 years directly related experience in
fire systems and fire safety. Must be knowledgeable of the operation and
maintenance of fire protection equipment and systems. Must have knowledge of
NFPA and OSHA regulations. Basic computer skills to perform word processing,
spreadsheets, and databases. Must have a valid Texas driver's license and be
able to operate a non-commercial motor vehicle. Candidates must also have
the physical capability to lift and carry weights of 50 pounds or less, and
perform other physical tasks of climbing and bending. Submit cover letter,
