Perhaps a word of explanation is in order so the membership does
not think Sally and all the rest of the officers have gone over the top.

The Executive Committee is holding its mid-year meeting in New
Orleans in conjunction with the Southern meetings. Our executive
committee meeting is *after* mardi gras (hence sober Thursday),
but a couple of people (otherwise nameless) are going early to enjoy
mardi gras and debauch and stuff, and Jim Highsmith did some
magic and was able to procure room reservations.

I, personally, will be at home eating pancakes while Sally, that wild
woman, is doing heaven-knows-what and having a great time.

Ginny

No no, Sally. We remember you here in 2001. Now you're telling us
that
you slipped in in 1998 and we did not notice! Whom were you
impersonating?

Glad to see all the hotel reservations for NO are in order. Jim did
well. I will think of you on Fat Tuesday down in Nawleans living the
debauched life, and look forward to seeing you on Sober Thursday.

I did.

And thanks.
