Diane is receiving another treatment for spasmodic dysphonia. We
expect that she will be away from the show until the week of November
19th.
        Hour One: News Roundup: A panel of journalists reviews and
analyzes the week's top national and international news stories.

        Hour two: Letitia Baldrige: In her new memoir, "A Lady,
First" (Viking), Letitia Baldrige recalls her years as social

Fresh Air with Terry Gross (noon - 1pm)
        RICKY JAY, one of the greatest living
sleight-of-hand-artists. He's a scholar of magic, con games, side
shows and eccentric entertainers. He's also an actor, co-starring in
David Mamets new film, "Heist."

Public Interest with Kojo Nnamdi (1pm - 2pm)
        How business travel affects the travel business. Business
travelers were once the lifeblood of the airline industry, and they
were treated well in return. Now long lines, security risks, and
cost-cutting measures are hurting everyone's bottom line.

Talk of the Nation/Science Friday with Ira Flatow (2pm - 4pm)
        Hour one: BIOTERRORISM PREPAREDNESS: In the wake of recent
anthrax attacks, lawmakers debate how much to spend on the war
against bioterrorism. The ability of federal, state, and local
governments and the public health system to respond to an attack.
        Hour two: FULL BODY CAT SCAN/ PET SCAN FOR ALZHEIMER'S:
Should you pay for a full body cat scan if you're healthy? A look at
this latest medical trend. Plus, can a PET scan detect early
Alzheimer's?

All Things Considered (4pm - 7pm)
        Mariusz Trelinski (MAR-ee-oosh treh-LIN-skee) has directed
movies and films -- the not so obvious next step? Opera. Puccini's
Madame Butterfly. One director's very UNrealistic approach to a
famously realistic opera.
