Hi All,
Jeanette Jaskula and I went out and saw the following
today.
Gilmore Ponds: the Northern Saw-whet Owl is indeed in
the same tree that it was last year, however it is certainly
hunkered down, up near the top and quite hard to get
good looks at.
Winton Woods: A quick stop at the Setting Pond
(Retention Pond?) near the dam produced good numbers
of birds. There is a small spot of open water in the main
lake near the dam, but it was birdless. The following
sightings are from the pond.
Canada Geese - 60
American Coot - 65
Ring-necked Duck - 12
Redhead - 15
Canvasback - 2 male, 2 female
Mallard - ~40
Northern Shoveler - 2 male, 2 female
Pied-billed Grebe - 3
Hooded Merganser - 1 female
Eastern Bluebird - 1 male, 1 female
