We have had a fair number of XP and XP Home machines (I couldn't tell you
which was more) that couldn't get past the Windows update test - even
though windows updates said that there were no more updates to
install. Usually this is fixed by scanning the registry where the hotfix
ID's are kept for a missing hotfix (per the check in cleanmachines) and
install the hotfix manually.

In one instance, I have an XP machine that keeps asking for the same two
security updates over and over and over again. We have not yet been able
to convince windows to retain the update.

Someone here asked if the new MS Windows Update site may be part of the
problem, but I have not been hearing much if any chatter from this list or
others that they are experiencing any of the same behaviors.
