Hello ALAS! Please take a few minutes to read this e-mail about how to
join the ALAS Relay For Life team.

Hope you all had a wonderful start to your Spring semester! I wanted to
let you all know about the upcoming Relay For Life event that is taking
place on Friday April 8 at 6pm through noon Saturday April 9, 2005. I
would like to get an ALAS team together again so I need everyone who is
interested in joining to please e-mail [log in to unmask] and give me your
name, e-mail, phone number, and at our next ALAS meeting you can turn in
your registration fee of $10. This was a huge success last year and alot
of fun so I hope you will consider joining this year!

For those of you who are new to Relay please continue reading. If you
have already participated in this event then you probably already know
this information.

What is Relay?
Relay For Life is a community gathering where everyone can participate in
the fight against cancer. Teams of people camp out at Cook Field on
Friday April 8th and take turns walking or running around the field. Each
team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during
the event--because cancer never sleeps. Relays are an overnight event, up
to 24 hours in length. Relay brings together millions of people to raise
money to help prevent cancer, save lives, and diminish suffering from the
disease. Each team member will be given an envelope and have from now
until the day of the relay to collect donations from family, friends, co-
workers, businesses, etc. Each person is asked to raise at least $100
individually. There are also luminaria that can be purchased to represent
and remember those that we lost to cancer, those fighting cancer, and
those that have fought cancer and won.

The 2004 Miami University Relay For Life was a huge success and
participants raised over $85,000 for the American Cancer Society. I hope
you will join us in making the 2005 Miami University Relay For Life even
better!

If you have any questions or would like more information please e-mail me
or call me.

Thanks for your time!

Jasmine
