Recently, a question came up that some of you might be able to answer.
From my recollection, there is no federal law or state law cause of
action for a university student who is sexually harassed by a professor.
While there might be common law assault actions if serious enough, I
know of
nothing in Title IX implying a private right of action for a student and
I know of nothing in any state law either. Similarly, if a student is
disadvantaged because a "romance" with a professor turns "sour" the
student has no legal redress. Am I totally off base here?
