Here are my goals and objectives for Legal Environment of Business. I hope the formatting stays relatively stable as I cut, paste and re-send this text.....

Dave Canarie

---------------
The purpose of this course is to provide an introduction to the legal environment of business in the United States. It will do so in the context of a liberal arts rather than technical approach to the subject matter, exploring the historical, philosophical, political and economic factors that have shaped the legal environment. It will also survey the current legal environment and assess trends that may shape the future development of the law as it relates to business. The course will emphasize ethical issues in the legal environment of business.

Students taking this course will have the opportunity to:

•	Increase their substantive knowledge of the legal environment of business;
•	Improve their critical thinking skills;
•	Enhance their written and oral communication skills;
•	Develop a foundation for graduate study, professional service or career development; and
•	Gain a better understanding of how the legal system relates to social justice.

I would love to see other's objectives for courses. We are in the process
of looking at this issue. My current objectives are:

* Demonstrating an understanding of key legal principles impacting
business.

* Developing critical thinking and reasoning skills to analyze the
business implications of legal decisions and legal implications of business
decisions and the ethical implications of both. Included in this objective
are demonstrating these skills through oral and written communications.

* Developing the ability to research legal issues using resources
readily available to business people.

* Developing creative problem solving techniques in both individual and
team settings and the ability to work without direct supervision.

Looking forward to seeing others' objectives. Thanks.

Hi Everyone,

If you have a minute, could you please reply to this email with your course
goals and objectives for your legal environment course. I am revising mine,
and writing an article about using a mock trial role play in class.

Here they are currently:

Understand the ways in which law is made and changed.

Understand the ways to resolve disputes both inside and outside the court
systems.

Understand the basic concepts that make up the criminal law.

Understand the concept of a legal duty and appreciate the consequences of a
breach of duty.

Be better prepared to react to legal situations which arise in business and
life.

Thanks for your help,

Pam
