      Not to be boorish, but the key fraction of the request you face is
"as tested".

      Focus first on the test and second on the classroom.

      It ought go without saying that to develop genuine critical thinking
that is not detected by --a-- test is far easier than to develop faux
critical thinking that is detected by the same said test.  Your "success",
of course, simultaneously is detected in the latter instance and your
"failure" is detected in the former.

      Take control of the test so that the test is focused on measuring
genuine critical thinking rather than faux critical thinking.
