The United States Hispanic Leadership Conference is the premiere
conference in the US that deals with the promotion of future leaders for
the Hispanic community. Who are these future leaders? YOU OF COURSE! Our
future teachers, doctors, lawyers, engineers, businessmen (and
businesswomen), etc. This conference exposes future leaders to current
Hispanic community leaders in US (many who are not even Hispanic like
Senators Hillary Clinton and Barrack Obama) who share their expertise and
enthusiasm in helping promote and advance the Hispanic people.
At the conference there are workshops for various fields of interests that
are given by experts who know what they are talking about and what they
are doing.
There are also excellent job fairs and college fairs for those who are
looking past their undergrad years (so make sure to bring a resume!)
Much of the conference will be formal dining times where important
speakers, presenters, or award recipients will share with everyone
something special they have done or will do in the Hispanic community
which really inspires the audience to take a more active role working with
Hispanic communities wherever you may be.
Then after all of that there are special parties that are given for the
attendants of the conference (a few thousand college students from across
the US) where you get to meet and mingle with people and have tons of fun.

I hope everyone who belongs to ALAS can come, no matter how involved with
ALAS you are because after this conference you will want to become more
active with ALAS.

Like I mentioned earlier, the conference is March 9-12 and usually we take
Miami vans to downtown Chicago at stay at the Hyatt regency where the
conference takes place. Traveling, hotel and conference expenses will be
provided by Miami University and I would love to have a great turnout to
show the Miami ALAS presence in Chicago (which is what the school is
really paying for).

So, if there are anymore questions about the conference, you can email me
or go to www.ushli.com and look to see who might be there and what types
of events or workshops they will have this next year.

Thank you again and sorry I didn't have information about this conference
in my previous emails.

Everyone have an awesome Thanksgiving and I hope to hear from everyone soon!

Paz,
~Leo D Martinez, Jr
