Simon,

The CAM database snapshot backs up all the configuration for the CAS
except for the following:

1) SSL certificate
2) CAS passwords (root/admin password)

So, if you have a database snapshot and you lose a CAS (i.e. server
catches fire, etc. - catastrophic loss), then install software on
another system/box, put the cert in place, give it the same IP as the
other CAS and change the /etc/.GUSSK file on the new CAS to duplicate
the old CAS's /etc/.GUSSK (this information is available in the CAM
database as the ss_key value in the securesmart_info table - this is the
unique key by which a CAS is identified). When the CAM connects to this
new CAS, it will populate it with the entire config. You will have to
forcibly connect to this CAS from the CAM UI since the first time
around, the CAS cannot autoconnect to the CAM (since it doesn't know who
its CAM is).

HTH,
-Rajesh.

Subject: CAS Backup

Does anyone know if performing a backup on the CAM backs up the settings
for the CAS as well? If not, is there a good method for backing that
information up (other than writing down the settings).

Thanks,

Simon
