At Central Michigan we have 6 legal studies profs and the average salary is about $65,000.

Subject: salaries

ALSB Colleagues,
I periodically request from my dean salary upgrades (based on merit and equity) on behalf of my legal studies colleagues. We are so far behind our accounting, finance, etc. faculty, and with each contractual raise, we fall further behind. Sometimes I've been successful (to a small
extent, but something is better than nothing), sometimes not. My most persuasive argument is to show how far behind other legal studies faculty we are. Administrators expect us to be paid less than other business faculty so comparison to the accounting faculty in my department, for example, doesn't help us. I have the combined figures for legal studies faculty from the 62 reporting schools in the 2004-05 AACSB survey, but I do not have figures for individual institutions. If you have salary information available for your institution, and the mean or median salary for legal studies faculty is in 6 figures (If you're just as poor as we are, your information won't help me!), I would love to know about it. FYI, the mean legal studies salary at private, accredited institutions is reported in the AACSB survey as $104,000. Please reply directly to me at [log in to unmask] Thanks for your help.
