Year 106 for this nation's Audubon Christmas Bird Count; oldest running
citizen science project in existence.
Ohio's participated since that very first one in 1900.
Dawn to dusk canvas of specific count circle birds: most organized counts
run early in morn and break by noon.

Germantown MetroPark, Nature Center 6910 Boomershine Rd. Meet at the Nature

Visit a newly acquired MetroPark property, and hike cross-country through a
rugged landscape to participate in the Preble County Plus Audubon Christmas
Bird Count. There will be a small program fee of $5 for participants
wanting their names included in the official report. Unofficial counters and
youth under 18 may participate for free. Car-pooling may be necessary.

Community Calendar.

Audubon Miami Valley Oxford Christmas Bird Count starts 7:30am from Miami
Ecology Research Center north of Oxford on Somerville Road: first drive on
right after turning off SR 732. Novice birders join experts covering
portions of the count area. First time counters do not pay the $6 fee for
data processing, publication fees, and potluck lunch at noon. Bring own

Whitewater Christmas Bird Count just across the Indiana state line covers
Brookville Lake and Whitewater State Park and surrounding areas.
