We bought ours right around the time they were switching from the
Perfigo licenses to the FlexLM licenses, so we started with one or
two old licenses, then added FlexLM licenses on top, and it worked
for us. With the reinstall we just did, we moved completely to
FlexLM licenses and didn't have any major issues. If anything, our
problems stemmed from Cisco licensing trying to be too helpful, I had
two separate people emailing me licenses, so I ended up with some
overlapping ones, and because we switched our CAMs around early on,
we had some outdated ones that I neglected to delete with the wrong
MAC address in them :( Make sure you rename the licenses or use a
doc to keep track of which license is for which feature (CAM, CAS,
etc.) as it's a lot easier than opening up all the license files
individually.
Also, I don't see any mention in our license files of user caps, just
things like "1 Server, OOB, Failover" (paraphrased).
